Calendar

A calendar a nine-year-old
can read

Month, week or day โ€” one tap apart. Filter to just Jack before the school run, or tap All and see the whole week. Every event is coloured by whose it is, and the school calendar is already in there.

The screen

Three views, one filter rail

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ

Month, week, day

A segmented switch, not a buried menu. Previous ยท Today ยท Next always in the same place.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ

"Who are we looking at?"

A rail of faces across the top. Tap Ella and the week becomes Ella's week. Tap All to come back.

โš ๏ธ

Overlap badges

Two things at once get flagged on the day, before you find out in the car park.

๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ

Weather

On the day view, from your home town. Set once in Settings; useful mostly for outdoor games.

๐Ÿ“Ž

Attachments

Staple the permission slip to the field trip so it's where you'll look for it.

๐Ÿ“‹

Copy to more days

An event that happens on four scattered days doesn't need to be created four times.

๐Ÿ’ฌ

Comment threads

"Who's driving?" lives on the event, not across six text messages. Adults only by default; you can open it to the whole family.

๐Ÿ”

Repeats that ask the right question

Editing a repeating event asks: just this one, this and future, or skip this occurrence. Three answers, one question.

๐Ÿ™‹

Ask for help, from the event

The โ‹ฏ menu on any event opens an ask, pre-filled โ€” "pick up Ella at 5:30."

Getting other calendars in

The school, the team, the district โ€” and Google

Subscribing is the highest-value five minutes of setup in the whole app, so it's built to be five minutes.

๐Ÿซ

Subscribe to a schedule

Eight one-tap provider tiles for the systems schools actually use, or paste any calendar link. Happy Herd checks it's a real feed before it saves, and tells you what's wrong in plain language if it isn't.

  • Detects a sign-in page and says so, instead of silently importing nothing
  • Asks "these look like someone's in particular โ€” whose?" and assigns them
  • A feed-health warning when a calendar stops responding
  • Refresh on demand, or let it refresh itself
๐Ÿ“†

Google Calendar, both ways

Connect your Google account to bring your own calendar in โ€” and optionally send Happy Herd's events back out to a calendar of your choice, so your work calendar shows the school play.

  • You pick which Google calendar receives events
  • Clear about what is shown and what isn't
  • Imported events say "๐Ÿ“… From a connected calendar โ€” edit it there"
The part nobody else does

Correct an imported event once, and it stays corrected

School feeds are messy. "GR 4 FIELD TRIP โ€” MEET 8:15 BUS LOOP" is not a name a nine-year-old can parse. Rename it, or assign it to the right child, and Happy Herd flags that correction so the next refresh doesn't overwrite you.

It also learns: correct "gymnastics" to Emma twice and it stops asking.

FROM THE SCHOOL FEED
GR 4 FIELD TRIP โ€” MEET 8:15 BUS LOOP
โ†“ you renamed it once
๐ŸšŒ Ella's field trip ยท bus at 8:15

Kept through every future refresh.

Sending calendars out

Publish your family's calendar to the people who need it

Grandparents, a co-parent, a babysitter, a coach. They subscribe once in whatever calendar app they already use โ€” and never install anything.

๐Ÿ”—

A link, a QR code, or one tap

Share however suits the person. The QR is drawn on your device, not fetched from a service.

๐ŸŽš๏ธ

Choose exactly who's included

Everyone, or per-member switches. Publish just the kids' schedule and keep your own out of it.

๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ

Busy-only mode

Show that a slot is taken without showing what it is. Useful when the audience is wider than the family.

๐Ÿ”„

New link, any time

Rotate the link and the old one stops working. One tap, no support ticket.

๐Ÿšซ

Turn it off entirely

Publishing is off until you switch it on, and off again the moment you want it off.

๐Ÿ…

Follow a coach's schedule

If a coach publishes theirs, you follow it and their changes flow into your board โ€” no group text required.

Questions

About the calendar

Will it import our school calendar?

If your school publishes a calendar feed โ€” most do, through the district site or a system like the ones in the provider list โ€” then yes. If the link turns out to be a sign-in page rather than a feed, Happy Herd tells you that specifically instead of importing nothing and staying quiet.

Can I use it without connecting anything?

Absolutely. Adding events by hand, by voice, or by photographing a flyer all work with nothing connected.

Do you sign in to school portals for us?

No, deliberately. Handing your school-portal password to an app is a bad trade, and some vendors forbid it outright. Happy Herd works with published feeds, links you paste, and forwarded emails.

Can kids add events?

Kids can view every calendar screen and edit an event. Adding a new event is behind the parent PIN, as is deleting one and sharing the schedule out.

What does it cost?

Nothing. The whole calendar โ€” all three views, the filter rail, school and sports feeds, Google sync both ways, publishing, coach schedules, comment threads โ€” is on the free plan.

Get the school calendar off the fridge.

Free forever, for the whole family. No accounts for the kids โ€” just a six-character code.

Free forever for the whole family ยท The Family Plan is $4.99/mo with 7 days free ยท Nothing for the rest of your family to install
