"What's for dinner" โ
answered on Sunday
Seven rows. Tap one, pick a meal, done. Anything you cook twice goes in the recipe box and drops onto a day in two taps โ and its ingredients go straight to the grocery list, live on every phone in the house.
What's for dinner this week
๐ RecipesPlanned in about three minutes
Meal planning apps fail by asking for too much. This one asks for a name on a day.
Sunday to Saturday, on one screen
Tap a day, pick a meal, and it's planned. Navigate to next week when you're ready to think about it.
Empty days are fine
Unplanned days say "tap to plan" and nothing else. No streak to break, no nag, no guilt mechanic.
A recipe box, not a cookbook
Built for the ten meals you actually rotate. Type one in, or capture one by photo.
Photograph a recipe card
Nana's handwriting, a magazine page, the back of a packet. Several photos of one recipe count as one.
Add to Grocery, one tap
Ingredients land on the grocery list and appear on every joined device in seconds.
Tonight's dinner on the wall
Whoever walks past the kitchen tablet sees it. That question gets asked out loud a lot less.
Reuse without retyping
A meal you planned before is two taps to plan again. Most weeks are mostly repeats and that's fine.
Edit or clear a day
Plans change at 4pm. Clearing a dinner is one tap and doesn't ask you to justify yourself.
Recipes stay yours
Private to your household. Nothing is published, shared or mined, and there's no feed to appear in.
The 5pm scramble is expensive
Not planning dinner is the single most reliably costly thing a busy household does โ in money, in time, and in the mood of everyone in the kitchen at five past five.
Something is thawed
The decision moves from 5pm on a Tuesday, when you have no capacity, to Sunday, when you do.
One shop, not three
Ingredients for the whole week land on the list at once, so the mid-week top-up run stops happening.
Kids can look it up
"What's for dinner" has an answer they can read themselves, on the wall, without asking you.
About meals and recipes
Is this part of the free plan?
No โ meal planning, the recipe box and photo recipe capture are part of the Happy Herd Family Plan, $4.99/mo for the whole family, with 7 days free. Lists, including the grocery list, are free.
What happens to my recipes if I stop paying?
Nothing is deleted. The meal planner and recipe box go quiet, and everything is exactly where you left it if you come back.
Does it suggest meals for me?
No, and that's deliberate. Happy Herd doesn't have opinions about what your family should eat. It remembers what you cook and makes it fast to plan.
Can I import recipes from a website?
Photo capture and typing one in are what's supported today. Sharing a page into the app is on the list.
Do the ingredients replace my grocery list?
They add to it. Your existing items stay, and you can tick off whatever you already have.
End the 5pm scramble.
